The Azalea Glen Christian Center Story
The Lord your God in the midst of you is mighty. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing! Zephaniah 3:17
AGCC exists to love God and love people. The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.
In the mid 1980’s a group of believers began to gather in Azalea, Oregon with a vision to establish a Spirit Filled church that would glorify God and provide a spiritual family for them. By faith, they purchased 28.5 acres of land along the I 5 corridor, in the heart of the beautiful Cow Creek Valley, with nothing but picturesque countryside around it and sparkling Cow Creek running through it. No town? No problem. God’s presence was there. Pastor Dan and Patty Fleming answered their call for a pastor in 1988, and the foundations of Azalea Glen Christian Center, first known as Faith Family Fellowship, were established. For 35 years Pastor Dan and Patty Fleming faithfully, with integrity and purity, loved and shepherded the congregation of AGCC. Indeed a very strong and stable foundation was built. In December of 2023 Jeremy and Elizabeth Kirkland answered the call to transition into pastoring this beautiful church body.
Here are some things characteristic of folks at AGCC:
We love being a country church! We believe we can reach the world from Azalea, in part because country living is perfect for growing strong, healthy and authentic believers who can sow see in the dirt and reach for the stars.
We love our community. There is room for everyone to volunteer for clean-up days, community worship services, Azalea Country School, hosting events, and after school programs for kids. AGCC people are often teachers, mentors and coaches, senior services cooks or drivers, hospital visitors, food pantry directors and Celebrate Recovery leaders. When there are snowstorms, floods or wildfires, our people are among the first to rescue and house those who need shelter and comfort until I 5 reopens, or the floods and fires recede. Courage and compassion are found here in abundance.
We believe that AGCC is a place where heaven touches earth. We believe that it is our job and privilege to worship with all of our hearts and to pray in faith, not only for ourselves but as a covering for this area as a strategic location along the main North - South corridor of the West Coast of our country. We can’t NOT worship because our hearts are full and we are grateful for God’s love for us.
We love children. Every church is just one generation away from closing its doors. The extension of God’s Kingdom lies in the hearts of our little ones and it is our goal for them to experience the joy, love and thrill of being in God’s presence and loving one another. Therefore, we give our best to the honor of shepherding our young ones.
We believe in a multi-generational church. There is room for each of us at every season of life. We all grow together with more joy, and accomplish our purpose more effectively with all hands on deck!
Strong families build strong churches. AGCC loves to support families in the goals they have for loving one another, raising their children growing deeper and stronger during the hard times. We walk together, hold on together, and celebrate together. We are family.
We believe that God will use Azalea to reach the world. Many will be raised up here; some will stay to preach the Word of Truth, raise up the young, worship in such a way that spiritual battles are won and doors are opened, so that others will be equipped and launched into the world with a message of hope, purpose and Love - a message of a Savior who died for them out of His great desire to draw them close to Him.
We believe that God’s Word has the answers to everything we need for life. We read it, preach it, take comfort in it, find our purpose in it and chart our course by it. When the world’s culture and God’s Word conflict, we choose to get our marching orders from His Word.
We believe in the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. We believe in using the spiritual gifts that He gives to the church to equip believers to fulfill their God given destiny.
